Exceptionally Pleased!

Used Mad City Moving recently to move my home from a small town to Madison. I searched on-line and after viewing the Video that Mad City had, I made my decision to use this company. It was a very good decision! They were prompt, courteous and very helpful. Nothing was damaged. I definitely recommend them if you are in need of a moving service!

Good movers / Bad Management

Posted by skiman1 on 6/25/2009

Was quoted it wouldnt cost more than $500.00 no mater how long it took. Showed up with a 3rd guy and said it was $30.00 more per hour if we used him! Bill came to $680.00 for 5 hours! (Ouch!) They will quote you one cost over the phone and charge you differently when all is said and done. I am reporting this to the BBB apparently they have pulled this bait and switch before and should be held liable! The movers themselves were excellent and very friendly, it's too bad they are working for such a scandle riddled Mickey Mouse operation!

We and our paperwork are very clear on our charges, and how our operation works. We spend a large amount of time on the phone with customers and there is no confusion on how we charge. Our reputation with the Better Business Bureau, Dept of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, and Angie’s List are all excellent. We speak with numerous customers on a daily basis and the way we charge does not change. We would under no circumstances, as would any other mover, quote a flat price no matter how long it takes. We charge on an hourly basis based on the number of men on a move. A typical move quoted at $500 would be a 2 person move If there was a 3rd person added, it would only be due to the fact that on arrival the move was larger then what was disclosed to us earlier, or there was piece that required 3 men such as a piano or pool table. We give our customer the option when it comes to additional men, and $30/hr is not a normal rate for a 3rd person, it would normally be more. We would not force additional men on a customer; it is to their discretion to use them. We can only be as accurate with our estimates as our customers are accurate with the inventory given us. We have our policies and how we charge on our website and these are documents identical to what our customers are given. Please feel free to call us at 608-274-9855 if you have questions regarding this review or visit our website for our policies.

I moved my mom from one assisted living room in Stoughton to another in Oregon. I spoke with the manager Arden who was very nice and helpful. The move took 2 hours which I thought was reasonable. I admit that I was not there to supervise the move but I feel that they did a good job. They packed up her things along with the move and the cost was close to $225.

Megs

Stay away from these guys. They charge on hourly basis and are as slow as molasses. They quoted me 2 hours for a job but took 6 hours and charged me for 6 hours. Out of the 2 guys that came to move my furniture, one person was pretty much standing idle for most of the time. Their only aim is to stretch the job as much as possible so that they can get the most money out of you.

We take pride in our ability to assist our customer with their moving needs. When speaking with you on the phone, we go to a great length to fully understand the belongings that you need us to move, and base our estimates on the amount of items you disclose to us. If the amount of items you have changes this will effect the amount of time to move your belongings, which in turn will effect your estimate. We welcome all customers that have concerns to call us and express them. We have not recieved any communication from the customer whom wrote this review, and would invite them to call us and discuss. We have searched our records to attempt to locate this customer and could not find a job within the last month that remotely fits the description of the scenerio in the review. We would like to understand the concerns and strongly urge a call from this customer to us to discuss. We are more than willing to try to understand your concerns and meet on a mutual ground. Customer satisfaction is a high priority for us.
